Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- The BOA fastener enables fast, precise adjustments, even while you're cycling.
- Breathable upper part made of perforated synthetic leather for excellent ventilation, so your feet will stay fresh for a longer time.
- Its nylon sole is reinforced with glass fibre, resulting in improved power transfer.
- Its lightweight design reduces fatigue on long rides.
- The glass-fibre-reinforced nylon sole is less rigid than a fully carbon sole, but does provide more comfort on long rides.
- A single BOA closure can be adjusted less precisely than double BOA closures, which is especially relevant for people with a high instep.

The upper part of the RC302 is made of perforated, synthetic leather and recycled mesh fabric, ensuring excellent ventilation and a snug fit. The seamless midsole and low stack height provide stability and improve your power transfer. These shoes are most suitable for warm to medium temperatures, because their breathable material keeps your feet cool and comfortable, even on intense rides.
Extra functionality
The Shimano RC302 is equipped with a BOA L6Z dial closure, so you can quickly and precisely adjust the fit. Simply turn the closure to make these shoes fit tighter or looser. You can even use the BOA closure safely and responsibly while you're cycling. This system ensures that pressure is evenly divided over your forefoot, which encourages comfort. Plus, the Surround wrapping structure means the shoe will wrap around your foot like a second skin, without unpleasant pressure points. Reflective details improve your visibility on rides in the dark.

Top shoes in this price range
Thanks to the sales assistant at Mantel, I bought the right shoes after a few previous mishaps. Shimano shoes are renowned for the way they mould to your feet.

A great shoe to start with
As my first pair of clip-in cycling shoes, I’m pleased with the purchase and the assistance from the sales assistant, who explained the different models of shoes for beginners. In the end, I chose the Shimano shoes because they fit best. I’ve now worn them on three rides and I’m still happy with them. I do notice, however, that the shoe might be slightly wider or higher than I need. I’ve noticed this now that I’m wearing the shoes with very thin cycling socks instead of the thicker sports socks I was wearing when I bought them. This is definitely something to bear in mind.
